From the solo exhibition "Hey, You Gonna Eat That?" 2012:
"I am a dyer, a mender, and a chef. I believe that consuming food everyday is an example of the pattern of our lives. Every morning I wake up, I get out of bed, and I make myself a cup of coffee; this is an example of a pattern..."
Deconstructing the idea of a "patterned textile" Sierra used the patterns made from meals and applied them to wearable garments. Sierra created open environments where audience participants were invited to share in a meal together.
During this meal, all food consumed had a capacity to dye or stain fabric. Participants had no eating utensils and were required to only use their hands. The dishes made to hold said food was made to spill or leak, purposefully, allowing one to trace where a dish traveled throughout the meal.
